The ship is carrying 2,666 guests and 1,045 crew. Among the guests there are 251 Canadians.
The 10 infected cases include 2 Australians, 3 Japanese, 3 people from Hong Kong, and 1 from the United States, as well as 1 Filipino crew member. Those that tested positive were fully covered in white sheets and were taken off the ship by officials wearing protective gear. They were placed on Coast Guard vessels, taken to shore and transported to local hospitals. The remaining passengers will remain on the ship and will be under quarantine for 14 days in Yokohama, Japan.
Princess Cruises released the following statement, "The ship plans to go out to sea to perform normal marine operations including, but not limited to, the production of fresh water and ballast operations before proceeding alongside in Yokohama where food, provisions, and other supplies will be brought onboard. Guests will continue to be provided complimentary internet and telephone to use in order to stay in contact with their family and loved ones, and the ship´s crew is working to keep all guests comfortable. Princess Cruises will continue to fully cooperate with and follow the instructions of global medical authorities and the Japanese government. We will also be cancelling the next two Diamond Princess cruises departing Yokohama (Feb 4 and Feb 12) and will begin notifying guests today." The statement went on to say, "If you are the immediate family of a guest onboard Diamond Princess you may call the appropriate number for your region for assistance:

Breaking News, Diamond Princess Update via Facebook as of 06/02/2020. The statement reads,
"We can confirm that among the second set of samples that have completed testing, 10 additional people have tested positive for Coronavirus. Local public health authorities will disembark those guests for transport to local hospitals immediately.The health and safety of our guests and crew remains our top priority. We continue to work closely with the Japan Ministry of Health on all protocols and procedures while ensuring the comfort of our guests.Â
The well-being of our guests and crew remains our top priority, and we are working diligently to improve their experience during this challenging time. Food and beverages are being brought to their rooms via a daily menu. Guests in inside and non-balcony staterooms are now permitted to get fresh air on a rotating basis, as directed by Public Health authorities. We are also providing many in-room activities and additional entertainment options. This includes new TV channels, movies, audiobooks, exercise videos, arts and crafts, board and card games delivered to each stateroom, and more."
The latest statement from Princess Cruises regarding the situation on the Diamond Princess as of 1030 local time in Japan on 07/02/2020 reads, "We have been notified by the Japanese Ministry of Health that an additional 41 people from the targeted screening samples onboard Diamond Princess have tested positive for Coronavirus."
